46TH ANNUAL Mason Cross Country Invitational

Sponsored by Buckeye Running Co.

 LIVE RESULTS AT:         WWW.FINISHTIMING.COM

T-Shirts:

A limited number of t-shirts will be for sale at the meet.

The Course:

The course is slightly different this year due to changes in the parking lot and new pool construction.  All of the major features remain, but we approach them a little differently.  The creek and the mulch hill are a touch earlier (400-500 meters) and the "roller-coaster" section is later.  If runners are slower than the allotted time, please DO NOT run them.  This could cause major headaches for the schedule.

Awards:

We will still do awards, but they will be at a table at the end of the meet, it is the coaches responsibility to pick them up.  No awards in the chute, no ceremony.

Fans:

In order to limit the number of people at our home and away events, Mason City  Schools is mandating that only 3 family members per athlete be in attendance.

COVID-19 Protocols

We are grateful for this opportunity to compete. We know many of these protocols are unpleasant and even unwanted, but we want to do whatever is necessary to have a season. So whether you are in agreement or not, we ask that you lay aside your opinions in order for us to have a season.

We need to remember that this is considered a mass gathering and therefore the protocols are rather strict.

City of Mason Parks Requires Waivers for All Participants

While our event is put on by Mason City Schools, the venue is a City of Mason park. Our parks department is requiring a signed waiver from every participant (coach, athlete, manager). We have tried to negotiate this with them. We know this is one more thing for you and nobody needs one more thing. But here it is. You will need a paper copy waiver from each participant (coach, athlete, manager) of this waiver. If the athlete is 18 or over he/she can sign it himself/herself. If not, then a parent/guardian signature is needed.

When you check in for your bibs/chips, you will turn in your clipped-together stack of waivers with this document on top. Please remember to do this. We are bound by the park’s rules. It would be very difficult to tell your team they can not compete because they did not comply with the park’s request.

Teams:

Teams should arrive at the park no more than one hour before their first race.

Coaches, athletes and managers must wear a mask at all times.

Teams are limited to 2 managers. Do not bring injured or non-competing team members. We have to limit our numbers every way possible.

Team camps on the baseball field at least 15 feet apart. Be on the inside of the outfield fence actually in the outfield.

Tents are allowed but no sides on them.

Coaches, athletes and managers must wear masks at all times with the exception of when the competing athletes are actually warming up, racing or cooling down.

Masks will be worn to the start line and removed 1 minute before race time.

Teams will report to their box no more than 5 minutes before race time. Maximum of 2 coaches may go with them to the start line.

No team huddles on the starting line or in the starting field.

Each team will provide a gloved, masked, coach in the finish area to direct their athletes back to camp and assist them if needed. Medical personnel will be on hand, but coaches will be responsible for their own athletes if they go down or need assistance at the finish line. We recommend giving a “no drama at the finish line” speech before the meet.

There will be no water provided at the finish line.

Teams are to cool down and then leave the park as quickly as possible. PIck up your awards at the awards table as you leave.

We have built in Mason Senior Recognition between the D1 girls and D1 boys races. This allows extra time for the girls teams from the morning session to leave the venue before many of the boys teams and D2 teams arrive.

Parents and fans: (please be sure your parents see this)

In order to limit the number of people at our home and away events, Mason City

Schools is mandating that only 3 family members per athlete be in attendance.

We ask that they arrive just before their athlete’s race and then leave immediately.

This helps reduce the number of people at the venue at any one time.

Parents and fans will wear masks the whole time they are at the venue. Even though

we are outside, an xc meet is a mass gathering, so the rules are stricter.

Parents and fans need to respect social distancing at all times.

No parents or fans near the team camp at any time.

No parents or fans near the starting line at any time.

No parents or fans near the area just past the finish line. There will be no chutes or  corrals.

When they finish, athletes we will hustled quickly out of the area and back to camp.
