For such absences YOU (or your parents) must personally notify your coach to your absence. DO NOT tell a teammate to tell us.
Nothing should be scheduled during practice time if at all possible. If a situation does arise, PLEASE notify us by email or telephone to explain the situation. 3 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES will result in dismissal from the Team. Things such as job interviews, driving school, hair appointments, etc. will be considered unexcused absences.
Meet OUTSIDE on the track everyday unless instructed to do otherwise. Athletes will be allowed to use the athletic locker rooms at the High School before and after practice (athletes must provide their own locks).

The Varsity “A & B” athletes who are in town WILL practice on Monday-Friday at 10:00am
We’ve scheduled a meet at Wayne High School for those who are in town on the Saturday,March 27
The JV Squad will NOT meet for practice but they are expected to continue their training.
NUTRITION:
Be sure that you stay well hydrated throughout the winter and the season. It will make a huge difference in your training. Water is our friend!
Bring recovery foods such as protein bars to each after practice and especially on lifting days.
You don’t have to diet or deny yourself favorite treats, but try to maintain a reasonably healthy and well-balanced meal plan to get yourself on the right path to a great season
SHOES!!!
THE RIGHT SHOES ARE ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL! To avoid injury and discomfort, make sure that you have a good pair of running shoes that are right for your feet and the way you run. Spending the time and money to get the right shoes will make a world of difference in your training. Any old pair will NOT do!
We suggest Buckeye Running Company. They are knowledgeable about running and runners’ needs. Plus, you can get a 20% discount by mentioning Mason Track & Field.
MANDATORY TRACK PARENT MEETING:
The Coaching Staff and The T&F and XC Booster Club have scheduled a mandatory meeting on Zoom, March 11th, 7:00pm. Prior to the Track portion of the meeting, Mr. Stemple (Mason HS Athletic Director) would like to meet with the parents as well for 20 minutes. You must have at least 1 parent on this Spring Meeting.
SCHOOL/COMMUNITY CONDUCT:
As a member of the Mason Track & Field Team, you represent your school and your team. We expect you to conduct yourself like a dedicated student/athlete both at school and in the community. You must make the following commitments:
I will adhere to all Mason High School rules.
I will NOT use tobacco, alcohol, or other illegal drugs or substances.
Violation of school rules may result in suspension from the team.
You must show proper respect to your teammates, coaches, opponents, and officials. Good sportsmanship and teamwork should be exhibited in every practice & athletic competition. The inability to follow this rule may result in your removal from this team.
LETTERING POLICY:
In order to earn a Varsity Mason Track & Field Letter, an athlete must fulfill the following requirements. An athlete must:
Score at: Mason Invite, GMC, District Meet, Regional, or State Meets.
Compete on the Varsity A & B teams throughout the entire season.
Be top 2 on Varsity in your event
Score at over half of the varsity meets during the season (approx 12-15 points)
Be a four year team member and finish the season on the team in good standing.
Letters may be awarded in special circumstances such as a coach’s decision or to a dedicated senior who fails to qualify by the above standards.
