Coaches Bios:
Tony Affatato Girls Track & Field Head Coach/Sprints
Tony is in his fourteenth year coaching; his twelfth year with Mason. He played football for John Carroll University (graduated 1998) and earned a Masters degree from Xavier University. He is currently a guidance counselor at Mason High School. As Head Coach, Tony has lead the Girls Track & Field Team to numerous championships including FAVC, GMC, District, Regional, and State titles. He lives in Mason with his wife Kelly and their daughter Gabby.
Chip Dobson
Girls Cross Country Head Coach Chip Dobson has been coaching cross country at Mason High School since 2005, and has previously coached at Taylor and Turpin High Schools. He is a social studies teacher, and has his undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Cincinnati. Coach Dobson was blessed to coach his XC teams at Taylor to two state titles and one runner up, as well as two state titles at Mason High school and two runner's up as well. He also previously was the boy's head Track coach at Mason High School for a number of years, and has settled down to just coach Cross Country and swim at Madeira. Coach Dobson resides in Madeira with his wife Kathy and his 3 boys, Chet, Luke and Jake where he dabbles in bike racing and is a big fan of history and politics.
Tom Rapp
Boys Cross Country Head Coach
Originally from Trotwood Ohio, Tom was a State Champion in cross country and in the one mile run. He attended Penn State University where he attained All-American honors and captained the team. He worked for Athletes in Action for 23 years, serving in various capacities including development of their track and field department. Tom was recently named Cross Country "Coach of the year" and has 2 State Team titles. Tom is a Spanish teacher at Mason High School. He is married to Mary, who was also an All-American track athlete at Penn State. Tom and Mary have two children - Chris and Megan.
Tim Pitcher
Boys Track & Field Head Coach and Sprints
Tim joined the Mason staff in 2017 as an assistant in both XC and Track & Field where he eventually assumed the head Track and Field coaching duties in 2019. Tim has been on staff with Athletes in Action since 1994 after graduation from the University of Tennessee as a 3 time All-American in the mile/1500m and a 2 time SEC Champion. Tim is also a high school State XC Team Champion and 1600m and 4x800 champion in Michigan.
Kelly Affatato Girls Track & Field Associate Head Coach/Distance, Girls Cross Country Assistant Coach
Kelly is in her fourteenth year coaching, her twelfth with Mason. She graduated from John Carroll University in 1998 and earned a Masters degree from The University of Akron in 2001. Kelly teaches sixth grade Language Arts/Social Studies at Mason Intermediate School. She lives in Mason with her husband, Tony, and their daughter, Gabby.
Hakim Oliver Girls and Boys Assistant Track & Field Coach/Sprints and Jumps
Hakim Oliver graduated from Loveland High School where he was a member of both the football and track teams. He graduated from Bowling Green with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. Hakim coaches freshman football and Special Olympics at Mason. This is also his eighth year working with the Track Team.
